Yureka is an AI created by a hacking software, and accompanies Roto in Lost Saga. After manifesting, she resides in Roto's ID card.
Her real-life counterpart is Jae-Ha, a would-be killer, and Yureka represents a part of Jae-Ha's personality. Yureka carries a deep love for Roto.
Personality[]
Yureka is kind-hearted and playful. Because of her recent manifestation, she has an naïve and innocent view of the world, like small child's. She is absolutely loyal to Roto, despite being abused by him regularly. This is usually due to her lack of understanding, or her tactless comments, without understanding the situation and Roto's quick temper.
Synopsis[]
Hunting at Terror Tower[]
Around the time Jae-Ha was renewing her legal ID card, she had created an illegal one with a hacking program, code-named "Yureka." She had accidentally dropped it during her multi-scanning, only to be found by Jang-Gun later. Jang-Gun accidentally logged in with it and had physically became Yureka, eventually learning it was a hacking program. Feeling mischievous, Jang-Gun decided to keep using Yureka's body.
During the fight with the Centaur, after it had afflicted Confusion on Ah-Dol, Yureka's voice manifested in Jang-Gun's mind telling him to dodge. As the fight continues, she instructs him to use Boromir's unconscious body to block an incoming attack from Ah-Dol, use him to knock Ah-Dol down, get on top of him, and then knock him out. Jang-Gun follows her instructions, albeit with some hesitance.
She then has Jang-Gun dodge an ambush shot from the Centaur. As the Centaur kept firing at them, she expressed her frustration that all he was doing was running away and told him to close the distance and attack. Jang-Gun protested at first, but after pointing out he hasn't been harmed thanks to her instructions, he agreed to listen. By dodging, counter-attacking, and moving forward as she instructed, Jang-Gun was able to use her ability to see the flight paths of the arrows and even smacking some out of the way with Yureka's amazing speed. Against her orders, Jang-Gun tries to deliver a blow to the Centaur, calling him an idiot. Fortunately, Jang-Gun was barely able to dodge Boromir's attack, revealing he was shot by an earlier arrow.
Yureka Appears[]
Yureka's first (true) appearance!
Sometime after Jang-Gun had logged out, Yureka had manifested into her own person, with her own body. She reunited with Ah-Dol and Boromir and agreed to go hunting with them after she did some shopping to upgrade her gear and get some items. She returns, running late, wearing new armor and weaponry. Ah-Dol compliments her new clothes, to her delight and then notices Roto behind Boromir. She asks who he is, and Boromir answers. Finally putting a face to the name, Yureka pretends this is their first meeting, and then continues conversing with Ah-Dol and Boromir.
At Terror Tower, Ah-Dol pulls Yureka aside and asks her not to tell Roto the three of them already came here before. After giving it thought, she agreed, and pretended it was her first time, like the others. After Roto defeated the Zombie Dragon using Fire Arrows, mimicking what he saw Ah-Dol do, Yureka praised his strength. She followed the team up to the 18th Level, where Boromir quickly killed Koin before he had a chance to say anything past his greetings. He tries warn Roto about the monster, but Roto ignores him and opens the door, thinking Boromir was after the loot. He is then thrown back from the Centaur's attack, to his annoyance. Ah-Dol points out that Roto was actually attacked with a Confusion Arrow. To make matters worse, the Centaur had appeared behind them through the doorway. Ah-Dol tells Yureka to take on the Centaur since he and Boromir know Roto better. They then split up to their respective foes. Confident, the Centaur tells her she was lucky last time, but it won't happen again. Yureka also says it will be different on her side as well. But before the fight can begin, Roto tosses the Boromir's beaten body at the Centaur, revealing he was never Confused. He overheared her saying the fight would be different on her side to the Centaur and asks her why He then concludes that after some thought, Yureka was not the girl he met and asks her who she is. Yureka smiles and tells him she is named Yureka because that's the name Roto gave her, confirming he created her.
Roto vs. Yureka
Roto is confused by this wondering how it happened, but Yureka doesn't know either, comparing it to how a person can't remember when they were born, or even conceived, and was hoping he'd know. Because Roto tends to forget a lot, he gets angry and asks if she's calling him her father, which she laughs off with a joke. He asks, still angry, if she intends to tell him what's going on and she she will but he just needs to ask the right questions. At this point, the Centaur gets back up and tells them to take their lover's spat elsewhere. Yureka responds warmly that nobody was talking to him. As the Centaur threatens her, Roto kills him with a Fireball, saying the grown-ups are talking. Reaching his limit, he asks her one last time who she is, and she responds jokingly that her name is still Yureka. Finally snapped, Roto attacks Yureka with the intent of beating the information out of her. As he attacks, she continues to dodge him, while taunting his personality. Finally at his breaking point with her teasing, he engulfs himself in fire to prepare for his next attack. Yureka is genuinely concerned about him being in the flames. Hearing this, Roto discovers his answer and decides to test his theory in a cruel way. Pretending to charge at her in a rage, he leaves behind a trail of fire for her to fall into as she jumps over him. He reveals his Fire Trails spell, making it harder for her to dodge around and causing him to chase her. In her panic and fear of the fire, she tries to get Roto to stop by saying Ah-Dol and Boromir will die, but Roto doesn't care and that her max speed won't mean a thing if it's burning everywhere.
With the whole room burning, Roto loses sight of Yureka and calls out for her to show herself, though she refuses. While in hiding, she reminds him that he saw her stats and that low level magic like the fire wouldn't harm her. Roto agrees, but points out that she can still feel the flames of the fire itself, so he'll keep igniting them. He calls out for her again, tracking her by her voice, only this time she asks him to put out the fire first, but he refuses. As she continually begs him to turn off the flames, he continues to refuse until he finally finds her, crying in fear and pain. Roto finally relents and turns off his fire, revealing that he determined Yureka is not human, but an AI. He reasons that normal players feel pain as a tingling sensation, like if your foot falls asleep, since nobody wants to experience play a game feeling actual pain, like being torn apart by monsters. He asks again who she is, but she repeats that she is Yureka, to his annoyance. He then realizes the voice he heard from before and Yureka's voice are the same, confusing him further. She tries to change the subject that they're all just programs in the game in the end, but Roto doesn't let up. It's at this point that Boromir has already woken up and tells them to play nice. Boromir then makes the wrong deduction due to being ignored that she and Roto are dating, to his sorrow, as Ah-Dol, who also turned out to be awake, consoles him. Roto isn't worried about fooling Boromir, but wonders how much Ah-Dol knows, and asks him how much he heard. Ah-Dol admits the last thing he remembers was Roto taking him out, revealing he only just revived himself, also making fun of his height. Roto lets go of his frustration and continues to wonder about what Yureka really is, if she even knows, and why she's in the game as the others talk.
